The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in…as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don’t get paid for this, and I don’t have the time to list every DVD. So, please don’t complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

The Specials

–There MAY be a printed Best Buy flyer this week.  Or, maybe not.  I don’t know.

–Best Buy’s Weekly Ad is available online at THIS LINK.

–Target this week has an EXCLUSIVE BLU-RAY RELEASE of Fifty Shades Freed.  The release includes more than 30 minutes of bonus content.  You WILL pay a $3 premium for the extra content, however.  The bonus version is priced at $22.99.

–Target is also advertising last week’s Blu-ray releases of Peter Rabbit ($19.99) and 12 Strong ($22.99).

–And Target has the following “Movies and TV Picks for mom” advertised.  Most of these are Blu.  Some I can’t tell from the ad.  I’ll list those in parentheses.

$10.00:  The Grease Collection(!), Fifty Shades of Grey, The Girl on the Train, Girlstrip, (and La La Land, Snatched and Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life which look to be DVD).

$15.00:  The Shape of Water, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri, I Tonya, The Post, Murder on the Orient Express, The Greatest Showman (and The Crown: Season 1 and This Is Us: Season 1 on DVD).

–Target’s Weekly Ad is available at THIS LINK.

  1. Hey RoundUppers!

Some eclectic titles this week! Enjoy!

I'm traveling so I decided to post up a day or so early. I figured there probably wasn't any reason to wait on whether or not there'd be a BB flyer this weekend (since there hasn't been for the past month). Plus, I'm not where I could put my hands on one till Sunday…if there even is one.

    Safe shopping!

  2. Same here about Saving Private Ryan. I bought it on DVD, but it's such a harrowing film to sit through that I only watched it once in all the years I've had it. (I saw it at the theater in its initial run.) I do think the UHD would be in order. I've also always liked Source Code, but the Blu will do me fine until that one gets a drastic reduction. Want Gun Crazy, too.

Thanks for the early RoundUp, Mike.

  3. Matt Hough

I've also always liked Source Code, but the Blu will do me fine until that one gets a drastic reduction.

I've found that movie doesn't have a lot of rewatch value, because once you know what's going to happen the time loop starts to feel very repetitive.

  4. Ill be buying SPR for sure but please note that if you bought the previous version in HD on iTunes you’ll be automatically upgraded to 4K for free on Tuesday.

  5. Also coming this week are two Cinerama titles from Flicker Alley, BEST OF CINERAMA and the other I’m anxiously awaiting in the mail- WINDJAMMER.

  6. Robert Crawford

Release date for those two titles is May 15th.

Are you sure? The release date on Flicker Alley’s website lists 5/8 for both. Plus I should get Windjammer tomorrow.

Hang on, looks like Amazon is selling it next week. So you’re right. I think Flicker just released it a week early if you ordered it through their website.

  7. Echoing others, Saving Private Ryan in 4K. I also have Batman Ninja ordered, but I’ll likely cancel it. This month is brutal with titles.

    Thanks Mike!

  8. Go figure.

Best Buy must be tracking my physical activity and knew that I was out of town this weekend. I came home last night to find a BB flyer in my Sunday paper! 😮

Oh. Huh. Looks like we weren't missing all that much! 🙄

LOL! Yes, I'm sure Justice League will be at the top of all the mother's day lists!

I hate when I see the phrase “Starting At” in an ad.
It means the displayed price is meaningless

I couldn't say it any better. They are completely useless.

And Best Buy is doing this more and more often.

Why would they pay for the paper and ink to print completely non-helpful information for the people who are taking the time to read their ads?? Give your shoppers something that makes sense and is constructive.

Apparently, the Philadelphia region has been abandoned by who ever is charge of ads at Best Buy.

    THAT'S where I was this weekend–Philly! 😀

And I got some Philadelphia papers on Saturday (the Inquirer had ads and coupons)…but no BB ad.

Why would they pay for the paper and ink to print completely non-helpful information for the people who are taking the time to read their ads??

Because they want to trick us. Last year, Arrival was listed in their ad (and accordingly reported by you as such in the Roundup) in a section listed "Starting at $14.99." Only the "Starting at" was really small. So I expected it to be $14.99. By the time I found out that it was actually $19.99, I already had in my head that I was going to get it, so I did. Had it been listed as $19.99, I probably wouldn't have looked to get it that week at all, since I was trying to wait for a price drop.
